In many acute care facilities, especially those in rural areas, contracted dialysis services have been the standard. While these partnerships provide essential care, they can also present challenges such as limited integration with the hospital's overall care team, inconsistent scheduling, and the inability to tailor services to specific patient needs. However, one rural hospital in Oklahoma decided to take control of its dialysis program and the results have been nothing short of magical

Challenges persist in understanding how to best capture data elements from electronic medical records (EMR) to utilize in the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) process. The essential component needed is understqnding where in the EMR to correctly enter the desired information so that the tools within the medical record system can extract that information allowing for accurate data to perform a trend analysis identifying where improvement and action planning is indicated. This presentation will uncover the value of monitoring the quality of documentation (Quality In) so the facility leader, medical director and IDT is assured that the clinical data in the QAPI review is correct (Quality Out). As a result, the IDTs ability to establish baselines, identify trends, identify barriers and initiate prompt corrective action to address facility-wide goals is improved.

Facility Managers need to be educated on the resources available to them, to include the RHA Core Curriculum and CMS Interpretive Guidelines. Aspiring managers need time, direction, and mentorship by "seasoned" administrative personnel to ensure success. Having come out of a pandemic drastically impacting our patients and personnel, the industry must support up and coming managers, leading and guiding along the way.
