Extending Care Beyond the Chair: AKI and the Future of Home Dialysis

In January 2025, CMS allowed AKI-diagnosed patients to receive dialysis in the home, including skilled nursing facilities. This change requires providers to provide care tailored to the unique complexity of this patient population, which will be discussed during the session.

Alice Hellebrand DNP, RN, CNN is a founding team member of Dialyze Direct, a national provider of hemodialysis in Skilled Nursing Facilities. Ms. Hellebrand serves as a Past President of the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA) and a member of the RHA board. She has been a practicing nurse specializing in nephrology and dialysis for over 30 years.  Ms. Hellebrand is certified in nephrology nursing, a member of the American Nurses Association and the Renal Healthcare Association, and a representative of Kidney Care Partners. She holds a Doctorate degree in Nursing from Quinnipiac University. Ms. Hellebrand is an internationally recognized lecturer, author, and patient advocate in nephrology.
