The presentation will include how the Texas ESRD Emergency Coalition addressed the 2020 Hurricane season as well as the 2021 Winter Storm Uri that impacted the entire state of Texas. We will provide suggestions for planning for emergencies and effective ways to address the needs of the kidney community.

Mary Albin

Executive Director

Alliant Health Solutions | ESRD Network’s 8 & 14

Mary Albin, BS, CPHQ, is the Executive Director of Alliant Health Solutions ESRD Networks 8 and 14. Under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid contract, Network 8 and 14 serves end stage renal disease patients in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Mary is responsible for the overall strategic and operational oversight for Network 8 and 14 contract operations. Mary is passionate about ensuring patient safety and access to care for dialysis patient especially focusing on emergency and disaster preparedness. Her experience spans 30 years in healthcare operations with a special emphasis on end-stage renal care. Before joining Alliant in 2017, she served as DaVita Kidney Care’s group facility administrator, where she managed the operations for nursing services and patient care for the organization’s hemodialysis facilities. In 2020, she received an appointment by the Governor of Texas as a commissioned member of the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force. Mary also serves as the EDAC network representative of the Kidney Patient Advisory Council and DaVita liaison for the EDAC. She is a graduate of Chapman University with a bachelor of science degree in organizational leadership and is a certified professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ) as well as a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ).

Stan Langhofer

Stan Langhofer is first and foremost a nurse who loves taking care of the people who take care of our patients allowing them the opportunity for life. He is currently the Dallas Texas Regional Vice President at American Renal Associates (ARA). In this role, he works closely with ARA’s physician partners, Dallas Nephrology Associates and other physicians to open state of the art dialysis clinics throughout the state of Texas and Oklahoma. Mr. Langhofer began his dialysis career in 1981, accumulating experience in a variety of positions, including technician, staff nurse, education coordinator and administrator. In 1995, Mr. Langhofer became CEO of Kansas Dialysis Services (KDS), an SDO in northeastern Kansas. Under his leadership, KDS grew to include six outpatient clinics, multiple acute hospital contracts and a large home dialysis program that he remains passionate about. Mr. Langhofer also served as the Regional Operations Director for the northeastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri territories for DaVita, following DaVita’s acquisition of KDS in 2012. Mr. Langhofer is a member of ANNA and a past president of NRAA now the Renal Healthcare Association and continues to serve on their national board of directors.

Helen Currier, MA, BSN, CENP, CNN

Helen Currier has over four decades of renal healthcare experience at a quaternary care pediatric and women ’s system. As a leader supporting professional collaborations, she has advanced renal research on national and local levels. She is a frequent presenter in national and international forums. Her publications include nine chapters on pediatric nephrology nursing. Currier is a pre-eminent nursing figure in national professional groups and is one of the past presidents of the Renal Healthcare Association. Helen’s varied nursing experiences have brought her to the realization that the arts in health are an important supplement to drug or technology-based treatment. Helen also believes in the benefits of exercise and has led transplant recipient participation in Transplant Games domestically and abroad since 2011. Helen has a long history of professional volunteerism with a goal of applying lessons learned, from evidence-based practice outcomes, to mold international standards and guidelines.
