In many acute care facilities, especially those in rural areas, contracted dialysis services have been the standard. While these partnerships provide essential care, they can also present challenges such as limited integration with the hospital's overall care team, inconsistent scheduling, and the inability to tailor services to specific patient needs. However, one rural hospital in Oklahoma decided to take control of its dialysis program and the results have been nothing short of magical

Surveys can be smooth—or they can get messy. This session gives dialysis administrators the opportunity to hear from a CMS surveyor about: the wins, the pitfalls, and the surprises that leave administrators saying, “Where did that come from?” Participants will learn how to communicate effectively with surveyors (especially under pressure), effective policy development , and how one small oversight can unravel into bigger issues through a process we call “pulling the thread.” We’ll break down the structure of a Core Survey from entrance to exit, explore what surveyors are really looking for, and give you a chance to ask, “What have you always wanted to ask a surveyor—but were afraid to” Come ready for practical tools, real talk, and lessons learned the hard way.

119th Congress and Trump Administration Outlook for Dialysis:

Join us for an upcoming webinar entitled "What to Expect for Dialysis Providers and RHA Priorities in the New Congress and New Administration.” This webinar, hosted by Mehlman Consulting’s bipartisan partners Lauren Aronson and Dean Rosen will review the 2024 election results, highlight new leaders in Congress, and key Trump Administration officials, and discuss how the federal policy agenda will impact Renal Healthcare Association (RHA) members and key advocacy priorities. This session will provide insights into how shifts in the political landscape may influence policies affecting renal care quality, dialysis patient services, Medicare reimbursements, and early intervention strategies for preventing end-stage renal disease.

Rosen advises a wide range of health care stakeholders, from established players to startups trying to gain a foothold in Washington, DC. He has represented health systems and hospitals, medical colleges and physician professional organizations, health insurers, clinical laboratories, biopharmaceutical companies, nonprofit foundations, and multinational employers. He helps clients shape national policy and navigate the transformational changes taking place in the nation’s health care system. Through multiple roles with the David A. Bush’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to combat HIV/AIDS. Rosen also helped pass laws in the wake of the September 11 and bioterrorism attacks in 2001 to ensure that local, state, and national public health systems had new authorities and resources to respond to future threats. Earlier, Rosen served as Staff Director for the Senate Subcommittee on Public Health, Majority Counsel for the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, and Health Policy Coordinator for the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources (now the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee).
